The ISLC-PAIS Conference 2026 will take place at H’ART Museum Amsterdam; one of the city’s most historically resonant and architecturally distinguished venues. Housed in the monumental Amstelhof, a late 17th-century building situated directly on the bank of the Amstel River, H’ART Museum is far more than a striking conference setting. It is a place with a history that speaks directly to the mission of this conference.

Commissioned by the Protestant Diaconie of Amsterdam and completed in 1682, the Amstelhof was built as a home for the elderly and infirm. A place where people living with chronic illness, vulnerability and the demands of long-term health conditions could be cared for with dignity. For more than three centuries, until 2007, it served that purpose without interruption, accommodating at its peak some 700 residents. The building stood as a tangible expression of a civic commitment to those most in need of care. Today, transformed into a vibrant cultural institution, it carries that legacy forward. And we believe it is precisely the right place in which to bring together the scientists, clinicians, policymakers and patient representatives working to improve the lives of people living with Long COVID and Post-Acute Infection Syndromes.

H’ART Museum Amsterdam is one of the largest 17th-century buildings in the city, and its spaces are as well-suited to scientific congress as they are to culture. The building offers a natural rhythm between focused scientific sessions and the kind of informal exchange that so often proves just as valuable: over coffee, during lunch, or at the end of a full day of parallel tracks. It is a setting that invites connection between disciplines, between career stages, and between research and lived experience.

H’ART Museum Amsterdam is located at Amstel 51, 1018 EJ Amsterdam, directly on the Amstel River in the heart of the city. The venue is easily accessible by public transport from Amsterdam Centraal and from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which offers direct international connections to major cities across Europe, North America and Asia. Direct international train services connect Amsterdam to Paris, Berlin and London, making the conference straightforwardly accessible for participants travelling from across the continent.

Getting to the venue within Amsterdam is straightforward. Tram 14 and Metro lines 51, 53 and 54 all stop at Waterlooplein, from which H’ART Museum is a short five-minute walk along the Amstel.

Amsterdam Centraal station is just two metro stops away. The city is also highly cycle-friendly, and OV-fiets (public hire bicycles) are available for rent at Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Amstel stations.
